Swimming Lessons

The kids were thrilled to take swimming lessons this year. They all did a great job.

Catherine and Aaron moved on to the class that swims the long way across the pool. It was rough going for Catherine at first, but by the end of the session her teacher said she had the best front stoke in the class! They began to work on the back stroke and she go a little lost. In this picture she is 90 degrees off course. It was really cute to see the look on her face when she looked up and wasn't sure where she was.

The kids took two sessions, luckily the last two which were in July, because the weather was so cold this year. Some days the teachers would wear sweatshirts in the pool. Each of the sessions lasted two weeks. In Jacob's second session he had two of his buddies, Mike and Joe, in class with him. That was lots of fun for Jacob, not so much fun for the teachers!

Jacob learned to float on his back

And put his head in the water.

Look how cold his teacher, Matt, is!

I'm so thrilled to see them love the water. Swimming is one of my favorite things in the whole world!

I loved that Andrew took lessons this yr too. He is going to take another class this winter also b/c he's still afraid to float on his back by himself.

Glad the kids enjoyed it!

I'm impressed you survived 2 sessions. One session was more than enough for me! Ellie by the end was really enjoying herself. It took almost the full 2 weeks for her to be comfortable in the water and do all the things they asked her to. She just barely didn't pass her level, too. Bummer!
